Opis produktu
Triple bill of action films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 'Raw Deal' (1986), former FBI agent Mark Kaminsky (Schwarzenegger) was forced to leave the Bureau due to his excessive brutality. When someone is required to infiltrate Luigi Patrovita's (Sam Wanamaker) crime organisation in Chicago, Kaminsky is offered a second chance by FBI man Harry Shannon (Darren McGavin). He agrees to take on a job as Patrovita's bodyguard, and destroy the mob from within. In 'Red Heat' (1988), Moscow policeman Captain Ivan 'Iron Jaws' Danko (Schwarzenegger) is on the trail of Russian drug dealer Viktor Rostavilli (Ed O'Ross) in the USA when he is ambushed by the dealer's gang. When Rostavilli makes his escape, an American cop is killed. Danko teams up with the dead cop's partner (James Belushi) in a bid to complete his mission, but the resulting culture clash between East and West causes various hilarious problems. In 'Total Recall' (1990), Doug Quaid (Schwarzenegger), a happily married construction worker living in the year 2084, is haunted by a recurrent dream in which he is living with a woman on Mars. Rekall Incorporated offer him the chance to live out his dream through a microchip which implants any memories their client desires into their brain. But something goes wrong during the installation of Quaid's memories of a trip to Mars and soon he lands up on the planet for real, unsure of his true identity and pursued by a gang out for his blood. He teams up with a group of resistance fighters to uncover a mystery which leads to the highest echelons of the planet's government.

Red Sonja (1985)
Raw Deal (1986)
Red Heat (1988)
Total Recall (1990)
I say I used to like him, I mean that I liked his older films including the earlier Terminator films & Predator. Sadly in my view his last Terminator remake was poor and I hope they don't resurrect Predator or any of the films in this box set, they're fine as they are, a good blend of contemporary detective thrillers with that special twist that writers can give to an Arnie film, a sword & sandal action fest and the superb futuristic thriller with mind boggling special effects, 'Total Recall' (don't accept the later remake with Farrell which is a poor tribute in my humble opinion).
English subtitles and multi audio languages, 4 separate dvd's in 4 separate cases and a clever fold out cardboard case. Not too many bonus features really, though 'Red Heat' & 'Total Recall' have 'making of' featurettes .
N.B February 2020. Some of the reviews on this site are for a 3 disc box set and some reviews are for a 4 disc box set ___ Amazon have lumped them together.

This three disc box-set contain three films. The first is the timeless classic Total Recall. The Paul Verhoeven directed film is in my opinion, one of the finest action movies out there and the main reason to purchase this collection. It features an endless amount of bloody violent action, cool sci-fi set pieces and so many one liners. The other two films in the collection are Red Heat and Raw Deal. They were made in the mid to late '80s and are some of Arnold Schwarzenegger's lesser films. With that said, they're still fun and have great moments for fans of the Austrian hunk.
In terms of picture quality, I was actually impressed with how good these films look. Sure, they do have the usual '80s film visual qualities like a bit of softness and a lot of film grain. But all films look a lot sharper than any DVD copy I've ever seen. It's not ideal bluray quality but it's far from average or bad and that is something I'm sure people will be impressed with. The fact that they have also survived the usual DNR disasters that have plagued the likes of another genre classic Predator is somewhat of a miracle.
For the sake of a tenner, you certainly get your monies worth here. Two films might not be his best but they're still enjoyable and Total Recall being a downright classic means you can't lose. Fans of the action genre should definitely add this Arnold Schwarzenegger collection to their shelves.

First we have Raw Deal. The movie takes a little time to really get going, but there is a tension in the film not seen in any other Arnie related movies since. The final 20 mins or so are par excellence with a sweet Rolling Stones 'Satisfaction' playing in the background as Arnie is shooting down the bad guys. In fact there are two mass murder sequences here to keep Arnie fans happy. It's clearly not Arnie's best outing, but Raw Deal just about has enough moments to keep fans happy, and it character builds quite well. One snag is that the main bad guy cannot act which does spoil the movie some what, still you can't have it all. A movie that in the Arnie genre could scrape to about 4 stars but if 3.5 were available this is what Raw Deal would get. Certainly a movie worth rewatching.
Red Heat is a confused film. There are plenty of positives. The bad guys play out well and Arnie is in total character as the Russian. But thats the thing he never lets up, so he never lets the comedy in. And if you are paired with James Belushi you need a bit of comedy in your make up. Not too much of course but some. This ends up leaving the viewer slightly cold because for a cop movie to work on screen you need chemistry between the two, and sadly this does not show. Walter Hill is the director which is strange, as Hill is responsible for the excellent 48 HRS. Red Heat does have some good dialogue and scenes, the Moscow scenes are historically interesting. Best you can say is 3/5, but this movie could have been much better.
Finally the box set does what all box sets do: Throws in a duff. Here we have Red Sonja. To be fair movies like this do not rock my boat, however this is not helped by most reviews of the movie saying how bad it is. So unfortunetly I come into this movie with bias views.
All in all this boxset is probably worth getting, Total Recall is a classic and Raw Deal is worth having. I suppose it all depends what movies you already have and how big a fan you are of Arnie. They could of picked better films, but this is just about passable.

First we have Total Recall - one of the most definitive science-fiction movies ever made. Based on a short story it tells the tale of a lowly construction worker Douglas Quaid who - after a visit to 'Recall' to have fake memories of 'the holiday of a lifetime' implanted in his mind - finds himself dragged into a tale of intrigue and interplanetary politics.
One of the very rare movies that leave you guessing even at the end - was it real?
Secondly we have Raw Deal - One of Scwarzenneger's lesser known movies but nontheless enjoyable for the man in your life. (Or yourself if you ARE a man).
An Ex-FBI agent, now working as a sheriff is asked (with promise of reinstatement into the FBI) to help bring down a violent mob boss. The best way to achieve this goal is to go undercover IN the mob, working FOR the boss. However, things do not go according to plan...
Lastly but by no means least we have Red Heat. Another lesser known 'Arnie' movie sees him as a Soviet-Russian cop who is sent to America to pick up a Georgian drug dealer who managed to escape to the U.S. but is now awating extradition.
When the criminal manages to escape custody, Arnie must team up with his American counterpart (played by Jim Belushi) and they must overcome their differences and find a way to work together if they are to succeed in recapturing the criminal. A 'chalk and cheese' story - Old East meets West. Well worth watching.
