I got this item because I needed a decent mic for recording acoustic guitar, vocals and harmonica at home. I have used some really awful mics in the past which always left a hiss or seemed to muffle the sounds which has negatively influenced my music.
With this mic I had no trouble recording crisp beautiful sounds: when the track I'd recorded was played back when I was out of the room, I thought my mate was playing on the guitar.
Perhaps this isn't considered the perfect mic for recording guitar with, but if you're like me in that you can't afford an impressive home studio then you could do much worse than this, I personally couldn't fault the sound quality, I've been recording for about 8 years now in varying degrees and I give this a thumbs up.
The only fault I can find is that I couldn't work out how to get my 'Reason' software to recognise the mic, but the recording software that came with the mic worked fine so I just exported it over which was easy enough.
If you need to see a demo take a look at youtube, there's some good displays on there.
In all, a good mic, a great price. 10/10.

It would have been even better for voice recordings, had Samson included a low frequency roll off switch to remove the low bass frequencies which are not needed for voice recording. Samson used to have a stand alone driver that you could download for this purpose, but it appears that the driver is no longer available.
Even so, the microphone is great as it is, but a word of warning don't try to listen to yourself via headphones while recording because it will drive you up the wall. :-)
Like all USB condenser microphones the Samson has a built in Analogue to Digital converter, so if you listen to yourself speaking via headphones you get a slight delay because of the A-D conversion. This conversion delay fools the brain and the result is that you talk slower - it makes for some very funny recordings.
So if you want to impress your friends with some studio quality audio, then the Samson C01U is an affordable option.

Instead I looked over the internet for mic tests and found the Samson c01 which required a mixer (being a noob to audio I didn't know what it was) so I kept looking until I fount this microphone the Samson c01u (the usb addition of the c01) so because the quality was very good) Shipping was prompt and very intact when I got the microphone.
The microphone was beautiful and robust
and everything slotted into place easily and in 5 mins of opening it and setting it up I was ready to rock 'n roll! However when plugging it in for the first time it was very quiet I searched up how to fix it and all I needed to do was turn my main audio imput higher fro 4 (defalt) to around 40 (the best setting for me) and everything was great :-)
I then played piano and sung simutaniosaly and it recored amazingally overall this mic is actually better than the blue snowball and almost matches up greatly with the blue yeti.
Great mic, Great price, Perfect for me!

- Relatively cheap price compared to competitors
- Simple, elegant looking, and feels like its built off of premium quality
- Easy to use; Simply connect to your PC and voila
- Very good for pod-casting thanks to that deep bass and clarity of voice
Cons
- picks up quite a lot of background noise(resorting to noise cancellation settings in Audacity isn't always the best option but may be needed)
- Worst of all, it has this "hissing" noise in the background whenever you record something. Even when your mic is muted and you try recording through audacity, you will still hear this hissing noise which is quite annoying)
Overall, I'm fairly okay with this mic after using it for a month now. I use it a lot for singing and it does an Okay job at it. Like I said, there will be background noise present so just be aware of that. 4/5 because the sound quality is alright and it lacks some features present in other mics e.g. polar pattern switching.

Just plugged it in my macbook, which recognized it instantly and started recording!
I am using for some amateur music recordings, both for voice and guitar amplifier recording.
I do not seem to find any buzz as reported by some users...do not install any software, just increase the volume in mac sound configurations.
For voice it is very good and improved my recordings instantly (I was using macbook's integrated mic which made my voice shallow)
For guitar amplifier recording is not the best I believe, but it works well and for the price I had, it is the best condenser usb mic available.
The delivery was extremely fast (got it in a week), considering I live in Portugal.
I will try to include a video soon..stay tunned!
