To start with I'd like to point out that unlike some reviews here I did receive the Am4 specific version, the real deal is very clear to identify so I'm pleased to receive the correct item.
Fitting was easy enough though a little fiddly, most will need an extra hand to help with holding the backplate in place. Adding the brackets was the hard part, took me 10 minutes up front to check all parts fit and to practice how to remove the clips that hold on the fan and another 10 to install.
Once the brackets were in place the spring loaded screws were easy enough to get located correctly without disturbing the paste too much. Fitting the fan in situ is easier than expected but there's a very specific way of doing it. Once mastered it can be done in a matter of moments.
Performance wise, my Ryzen 3600xt was idling around 40C and up to 74 in benchmarks on the standard cooler, this gives about the same idle temp but with a less harsh fan curve so runs much quieter, under load it's been maxxing at 68 with less noise so it's a win in my eyes. Was hoping for potentially a little lower but all considered it has been promising so far.
Comes with a nice little metal badge to stick to the case and a screwdriver but can't help feel the screwdriver was pointless. If you're fitting these yourself you should already have one. If not, question whether it's something you can do yourself. Would have preferred they spent more on the cooler than these albeit welcome extras but for the price it's about right.
Not as big and heavy as my prior be quiet cooler I used with my last system but that was high end. This I would regard as upper middle tier. Not sure how able it is with overclocking but I'd seek something beefier for that on a Ryzen.
4/5 because it's small for the price but if 4.5 could be given it would be a fairer score.
All in, very happy with the quieter and cooler running CPU I now have, so I can enjoy my new system how I have been looking forward to.
Warning: watch how you use the included screwdriver, I used it recently for other uses and found it sheds metal swarf (small pieces of metal coating) quite fast. Not what you want dropping into your system! Almost includes to drop to 3 stars because of this issue but overall the cooler has been great so just be warned. Don't use the screwdriver in your system!
