The book is the same format as her other books with a hard back, ribbon binding and foiling on the cover. The paper is a soft white with plenty of tooth for pencils. Both wax and oil based pencils will work beautifully in these books. I can't comment about markers and gel pens as I don't use them. Alcohol markers are definitely out as the pictures are printed on both sides unless you want to buy another copy and sacrifice the back image. I have used Water-based media in her previous book Nightfall but I used the barest amount of water so there was no cockling of the paper and it handled it well. I imagine the same would apply to Luna as it is the same paper as far as I can tell. The lines vary in width with no real tiny areas as far as I can see so great for ppl like me that has arthritis in my hands and a lot of detail or tiny areas to color can be difficult at times. The artwork is middle of the road when it comes to intricacy. There's nowhere near the intricacy of Kerby Rosannes or the wide open spaces of some basic colouring books.
The images are a tad more whimsical than the pure botanical style Maria Trolle has used previously and there are figures in the book but as they are whimsical and naive, there is a minimum amount of skin to colour and would be good to practice before tackling artists like Anastasia Koldareva, Hanna Karlson etc.
All in all this is a stunning book and would be a great introduction to Maria Trolle or addition to fans of Maria Trolle.
