Over the span of his career, H.P. Lovecraft wrote just over sixty stories, many of which are regarded as landmarks of modern horror fiction. Nearly half of these stories have been adapted for film and television productions featuring the work of some of Hollywood's most distinguished directors, actors, and actresses. "H.P. Lovecraft Goes to the Movies" offers a unique grouping of Lovecraft's best stories that have been adapted for the big screen. In addition to an introduction that provides a brief history of Lovecraft adaptations in film and television, the book features short headnotes for each story that calls out interesting trivia about the movies and an appendix providing credits for each screen treatment.
H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) is generally acknowledged as the most important American writer of macabre fiction since Edgar Allan Poe and one of the most influential writers of horror tales in the twentieth century. He is best known for stories featuring a mythology of otherworldly monsters that has become known as the Cthulhu Mythos. Over the past century, hundreds of writers of horror and fantasy, from Neil Gaiman to Stephen King, have contributed works to the Cthulhu Mythos.

A decent Lovecraft collection, but it misses out some of his better short stories. A good primer for someone who's never read Lovecraft, but it would nice to have some of the more obscure stories.
